The Ocean Victory sets sail from November 2021 and is the new flagship of the Danish expedition cruise company Albatros Expeditions. For over 30 years Albatros has been traveling to Antarctica and conducting expedition cruises with a certain Nordic flair!
The Ocean Victory accommodates 189 guests in 93 comfortable cabins and suites, all with ocean views (and 90% with private balconies). The Ocean Victory features 2 restaurants, wellness area, an Albatros Nordic Bar, an open deck restaurant, a modern lecture lounge and a heated pool and 2 Jacuzzis.
The Ocean Victory features a dynamic positioning system. This allows holding position at sea without having to deploy an anchor. This is to protect the sometimes fragile seabed in the ships' cruising areas. In addition, the Victory is equipped with fin stabilizers and standstill stabilizers ("zero speed" stabilizer) to reduce the ship's motion when it is not moving through the water. The hull is ice-strengthened (Ice Class 1A, Polar Class 6). The vessel is part of the brand new generation of low energy vessels with 4 diesel engines and 2 electric motors, all electronically controlled to optimize speed and fuel consumption. The ship will have a carbon footprint more than 50% lower than conventional expedition ships of comparable size.
