MV Plancius was first launched in 1976 as a research vessel for marine seismic research for the Dutch Royal Navy. In 2009, MV Plancius was rebuilt and renovated and since then has been sailing under the Dutch flag as an expedition cruiser.
The equipment is clean, tidy and subject to the latest safety regulations. On board the ship, 108 passengers in 52 cabins can enjoy the unique nature of the polar regions. Each cabin has its own bathroom with shower/WC.
This ship is perfectly suited for expedition cruises due to its quiet diesel-electric engine. The tours focus on wildlife observation and exploring the destination, the landscape and the regions.
On MV Plancius there is a lecture room and a lounge with a bar, where you can relax and enjoy the view. Here you have an excellent view of the landscape also for animal observations.
In the restaurant there is a rich buffet for breakfast and lunch, while in the evening you will be served your choice of dishes to end the active day with a great dinner.
